There are many opportunities for women to find a fulfilling, challenging and financially rewarding career through an apprenticeship or traineeship.
Women have broken down many of the occupational stereotypes to excel in careers in emerging industries, bringing skills, expertise and diversity to trades.
Programs and events
Supporting Women Scholarships
Scholarships for women who wish to study in non-traditional fields and skill shortage areas such as agriculture, building services, engineering, IT and geology. Funding is provided towards completion of Cert IV and upwards qualifications as well as university degrees.
Girls Get Cool
A new initiative between Tropical North Queensland Institute of TAFE and local businesses, this program promotes careers for women in the electrical/refrigeration industries.
Women in QR
Queensland Rail actively encourages women to consider trade apprenticeships as a rewarding and valuable career choice. They have a number of benefits and initiatives to encourage your participation.
Support and advice
Women Moving Forward Mentoring Program
This program helps women working in the transport and logistics industry to develop skills and strategies for excelling in the workplace.
National Association of Women in Australia
NAWIC provides activities to assist and promote women in the construction industry through education seminars, scholarships and regular events.
